Boardwalk Hotel and Casino celebrated Mandela Day this year by donating essential non-perishable groceries to Healing Minds, Healing Hands, Busy Bee Day Care, Khayalethu Youth Centre and Gelvandale Frail Care. Representatives from Boardwalk Mall, Upright Security and Bidvest Protea Coin united with 50 staff from Boardwalk Hotel and Casino to pack the 250 buckets that were donated.

In shifts of 67 minutes to honour the late Nelson Mandela who spent 67 years fighting for human rights, the volunteers packed essential non-perishable groceries; each bucket contained samp and beans, soup mix, pilchards, jam, baked beans, rice, pasta, sugar, tea, maize meal, peanut butter, tomato paste, stock cubes and biscuits.

“These non-perishable items were carefully selected and purchased by Boardwalk Hotel as they can be used to prepare a variety of nutritious meals, providing significant support to those who receive them. Each bucket represents our commitment to spreading love and care throughout the community, helping to feed many individuals and families in need,” says Boardwalk Hotel and Casino General Manager, Tati Tsunke. “Thank you to all our volunteers for honouring the spirit of Mandela Day by giving back to our community.”
