Chef Johannes Richter will be collaborating with restaurant Bandol sur mer in Berlin. The collaboration is to take place Wednesday 18 September 2024, with owner and Chef Andreas Saul and Chef Richter presenting a one-of-a-kind collaborative menu.

The chef behind the award-winning The LivingRoom at Summerhill Guest Estate will be cooking a collaboration dinner at Berlin’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Bandol sur mer.

Chef Johannes Richter, the German-born, South African-raised chef will be returning to one of the first kitchens he first worked in, Bandol sur mer, located in Berlin’s Mitte district.

Richter will join owner and Chef Andreas Saul in the kitchen at Bandol, presenting a collaborative, one-of-a-kind menu.

The evening will showcase the host restaurant’s take on fine dining—drawing inspiration from France’s Provence region and its home in Berlin—meeting Richter’s distinct cooking style, which showcases the diversity of KwaZulu-Natal using hyper-endemic ingredients, ancient processes, modern thinking, and classic technique.

The collaboration not only reunites good friends but also marks a meeting of minds and a celebration of a shared ethos, with both restaurants having received recognition for their sustainable efforts.

Bandol sur mer has been awarded a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star—an accolade that highlights restaurants at the forefront of the industry for their sustainable practices.

Meanwhile, The LivingRoom, which won the title of Restaurant of the Year at the 2022 Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards, was named the winner of the Sustainability Award at the 2023 ceremony.

The collaboration will take place during the dinner service on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, at Bandol sur mer.
