Tashas Group has opened the doors to its latest tashas store at LXX Sandhurst, featuring two menus with dishes like Prawn Gratin, Cottage Pie and Coffee Pavlova, amongst others.
Elevated eating
Whether you choose to dine inside or al fresco under the jacaranda tree, tashas LXX offers all-day elevated dining from breakfasts to lunches, sundowners and cocktails, and dinners.
“As with each of our stores, tashas LXX will feature two menus – the Classic Menu and the Inspired By Menu, which gives customers the opportunity to try something different,” explains Head Chef for Tashas Group South Africa Sasha Basson. “We’ve put a big emphasis on our dinner menu making it a great choice for an evening meal with friends, family or colleagues.”
“Nothing is pre-made or pre-cut so that the taste, vibrancy and freshness of every ingredient is retained,” Sasha adds.
For starters, try the Prawn Gratin with prawns, tarragon mustard cream sauce and toasted ciabatta. Or the Tomato Caprese of heirloom tomatoes, basil dressing, herbed stracciatella cheese, and crispy basil on charred ciabatta. For a refreshing option, try the Nicoise Salad – flaked tuna, cucumber, baby potatoes, and lemon vinaigrette. Finally, the Crispy Ginger Calamari offers spiced calamari with crispy ginger, garlic, and red chilli, drizzled with homemade sweet chilli dressing.
For main course choose comfort in the form of Cottage Pie – a delightful blend of sofrito miso mushrooms, peas, carrots, and parmesan mash. Or a crispy Cornflake Pork Schnitzel paired with slaw, mustard and orange marmalade sauce, and crème fraîche mayo potato salad. If you’re feeling more adventurous, consider Rigatoni Vodka: a mix of tomato, vodka, cream, rigatoni pasta, Italian hard cheese, and crispy tomato chips; or the Verde Pasta with basil pesto-infused rigatoni pasta with mange tout, green beans, peas, baby potatoes, herbed stracciatella, pistachio almond crumble, and crispy Italian hard cheese.
For dessert, there are some delicious ones to choose from including Pear & Walnut Upside-Down Cake, Coffee Pavlova, Lemon Posset or Trifle with vanilla custard.
Deluxe décor
The LXX Sandhurst store will be inspired by the suburbs of Johannesburg and the essence of classical, timeless yet modern energy that transpires from the surrounding neighbourhood.
Natasha and her team have once again worked with Nicky Greig and interior design company Verhaal, led by interior architect Neydine Bak and Dewald Struwig, to design the interior of tashas LXX.
“The heart of Tashas Group is South African,” explains Founder and CEO of Tashas Group Natasha Sideris. “Our team – which extends to the talented artists and artisans we collaborate with – brings our hospitality experience to life for our customers, and gives each of our stores a unique, representative feel.”
The LXX interior is all about honesty and authenticity, with strong elements of local design talent. Plates and bowls handmade by local ceramicists sit alongside materials like oak, brass, marble and stucco. Tashas LXX will also feature a large-scale installation, crafted by artist Elonah O’Neil, made of ceramic petals to capture the essence of nature. These ceramic petals have been artfully captured in the bespoke menu design by A.M Studio.
Luxury location
“The Cavaleros Group has been our landlord for as long as tashas has been around, nearly 19 years,” says Natasha. “They build fantastic developments, and this is one of a kind in Sandton. Penny Cavaleros has been an unbelievable supporter and has become a good family friend. LXX is unlike any mall in the area and takes luxury convenience to a new level.
“In choosing locations for its stores, Tashas Group like to select places close to a city centre with a residential hub so that they can attract housewives, ladies who lunch, parents picking up kids from school, and businesspeople. With LXX Sandhurst being located right off the highway, next to the suburbs and surrounded by offices, ticks all these boxes.
“LXX takes luxury convenience shopping to a new level in the area with easy parking and an amazing offering making it easy to pop in for some of your favourite meals at tashas,” Natasha concludes.
